Year-Round Volunteer Positions

There are many year-round volunteer positions available at Scottie’s Place:

Volunteer mentors and tutors are needed in the After-School Leadership Program, a program designed to improve children’s academic performance and enhance their social skills and life skills. Volunteers provide individualized tutoring and mentoring four afternoons each week.

Tutors and teachers are needed for the Scottie’s Place Home-Schooling Program which provides full-time individualized instruction to at-risk elementary and middle school children.

Assistants are needed to help with the Saturday Arts Program for Teen Girls, an arts workshop that allows at-risk teen girls to explore and strengthen their creative natures making masks, mosaics, jewelry and journals.

Mentors and friends are needed for the Saturday Adventure Program for children from regional homeless shelters.

There are also volunteer positions for the summer program, Adventure and Academics. Volunteers provide support for the core summer staff and assist with tutoring and mentoring the children throughout the day.

If you are interested in volunteering at Scottie’s Place, please contact Jo-El at 304-753-5701 or scottiesplace@usa.net for more information.
