Dear Jo-El Wadsworth:
I just wanted to write you to show my appreciation for Scottie's Place. Man (Bethel) and Chi-Chi (Chinyere) came home from the camp excited and ready to go again. They spoke about it for days after their return and, as I told you before, Bethel was upset that he had to leave. My children would never have had the opportunity to experience fishing, canoeing, hiking and camping living in the city. But the biggest thrill for them was the animals! Feeding and interacting with the animals resulted in my son now having a desire to study animals and someday go to Veterinary School.
When my children went off to camp, I was a homeless, single mother struggling with Bipolar Disorder. We were attempting to understand the disorder and my physicians were experimenting with dosage levels of various medications. It was hard enough for me to stay awake, let alone make an income sufficient enough for us to live on. With my limited income, I could have never afforded the opportunity your camp gave to my children.
This is an experience of a lifetime! Words cannot express the blessing you gave to my children last summer. I'm so excited that you continue to want to further develop this relationship with my children. No amount of money could have ever paid for the care and concern you continue to show them. In a world where so many bad things can happen, I'm glad there is a Scottie's Place where children like mine can experience all of the many beautiful things this life has to offer. I will continue to pray that people would continue to open up their hearts and give to your program. God bless you and thank you so much for caring about homeless children.
