Scottie's
Place is located on top of Powell Mountain in Peterstown,
West Virginia. Breathtaking views, rolling meadows, deep forests
and mountain streams offer the perfect setting for camping
retreats, celebrations, exploration and high-spirited fun.
Scottie's Place is within walking distance of the New River
and a twenty minute drive to the Appalachian Trail.
Simple
facilities are provided for campers and visitors. Tents, tipis,
longhouses and cabins provide comfortable and varied shelter.
The large organic garden and orchards, tended by children
and adults, provide an abundance of healthy, hearty foods.
Domesticated animals include chickens, goats, burros, pigs,
oxen, sheep and dogs. There is a beautiful mountain pond for
swimming and canoeing and over three miles of hiking trails
that circle through the camp. Scottie's Place purposefully
maintains a spirit of simplicity so that all visitors may
experience contact with the natural environment. The purity
of this mountain is a source of renewal for us all.
